High on Portsdown Hill, Fort Widley’s Victorian buildings and pitch-black chalk tunnels provide a dramatic setting for a hands-on paranormal investigation. Led by experienced Dark Encounters investigators, small teams set up and run experiments such as lone vigils, EVP sessions and dowsing across the site, then regroup to compare findings against two decades of recorded cases. The event emphasises genuine investigation over theatrical scares and includes briefings, guided investigation, regular refreshment breaks and a final debrief to share results.

Special requirements:
Participants must be aged 16 or over. (Under 18 accompanied by an adult).
Restrictions:
The site has multi-steps, a spiral staircase and uneven chalk floors; mobility limited access and likely unsuitable for those unable to manage steps or uneven surfaces.
Health & Safety:
Please note the tunnels can get slippery when cold.

This is a genuine investigation rather than a guided scare. Investigations take place in cold, dark, uneven tunnels and areas of the fort. Groups are small (less than 10).
